Albena Melin

Albena is Head of Global Engagements at the International Finance Corporation (IFC). Implementing IFC’s new strategy of Creating Markets and Maximizing Finance for Development, she works with innovative blended finance mechanisms and partnerships to deliver sustainable development solutions. This initiative is specifically focused on positioning business at the forefront of global development dialogue and advocating business solutions for development challenges. Prior to IFC, Albena worked for both the UK and Swedish Governments, various INGOs, and multilateral organizations. Her expertise includes issues as diverse as advising Ministers and Central Bank Governors, designing and delivering women’s economic empowerment processes, and negotiating at the OECD/DAC, UN, EU and WTO. She has lived and worked in over 30 countries and 4 continents, spanning fragile states, emerging economies, MICs, and frontier markets.
